In the 21st century, everything seems smooth and quick. More when it comes to finding the cheapest possible air fare out there, it is simple and quick. All thanks to Momondo. It means it sources hundreds of online traveling agencies configure around them and gets you the cheapest fare available.
One unique thing about Momondo is that it is a free independent online flight search platform. It aims to provide a high level of transparency across the travel market when it comes to searching for the cheapest airfares. Momondo developers sat down and developed a code, robot program which works to provide people with real insight into flight prices.
What is Momondo?
Momondo is a travel fare aggregator metasearch engine. It also operates a travel information blog, inspiration. Momondo website is part of the Kayak.com subsidiary of Booking Holdings.

Momondo is developed as a free, inspirational, and independent global travel search site. It offers an opportunity to compare billions of cheap flights, car hire deals, and hotels. They focus on offering a bold and colorful travel universe chance by complete price transparency across flights, cars, and hotels. History about Momondo
Momondo was developed in Denmark and launched in September 2006. In March 2011, Momondo was acquired by Cheapflights Media, a rival online travel agency. In January 2014, Momondo launched ' Momondo places, ' a free city guide with maps. In July 2014, Momondo launched its ' Trip Finder ' tool.
In October 2014, a private equity firm, Great Hill Capital, invested £ 80 million for a majority stakin the Momondo Group, the company owning the Cheapflights and Momondo brands, valuing it at £ 132 million. In June 2015, Momondo released its "Travel Saver Calendar" tool.
Momondo currently serves 35 international markets for travelers. It received industry accolades for' Best Meta Search Website' and' Best Use of Social Media' in 2014 as a result of positive results, followed by the' Best Meta Search Website' in 2015 at the prestigious Travolution Awards in London. Momondo is not a travel agency, not an airline, not a booking website, and does not sell tickets for flights. They help you get the cheapest flight online travel agencies offer.
Back In 2010, Momondo was named the best travel website to find bargain fares by Travel + Leisure. Momondo was ranked first in the "10 Best Airfare Search Sites" list by Frommer.
There are several reasons as to why Momondo offers the best metasearch services out there. Here are some of the main reasons why;
Flight Search Advanced Technology
Momondo simply exists to help travelers find the cheapest and best flights with minimal effort. Intuitive flight search software consists of Momondo's system. The Momondo apps have won awards for having the best flight analysis tools, and this is an impressive feat given how crowded and competitive the industry is. Momondo performs a cross-search for the best results for travelers between airlines, travel sites, and low-cost carriers.
Although Momondo relies on its ground-breaking airfare technology to help users find the most accessible flights, other travel arrangements are also shown. For example, on Momondo, a traveler can book their hotel room or rent a car. Momondo has also provided travelers with several tools and resources to create the best possible booking experience. Such tools include:
Flight Analyzer: Momondo not only calculates the cheapest flight, but also shows the departure and arrival dates, the best price/flight time ratio, and even shows how variables such as departure days and seasonality influence fare rates.
Flight Finder: the Trip Finder app allows travelers to enter their budget and then find destinations and activities to book within their range of dollars
Inspiration App: the inspiration tool helps those who are searching for a unique travel experience, but is unsure where to begin and how to book.
No interference or influence from providers
Momondo business model is completely free, globally operating, and completely independent. Momondo stands alone to offer travelers the ability to check and compare flights and travel deals globally. This is important to note because it means that external providers do not influence information about prices and data
Mobile App availability
While traveling, it can be difficult to access a laptop or desktop. Momondo also has a free app for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices to tackle this problem. This app provides instant access and insight into billions of cheap flights and hotels for travelers. Momondo app features enable a customized search experience. Users can use the Draw and Search tool that allows a traveler to draw any shape on a map to find hotels in a particular area.
What Momondo need to improve?
There in some aspects where Momondo lag behind and need to check on and improve. They include;
Momondo is made up of award-winning Technology that enables travelers to find the best international flight prices for airlines. That said, the platform still has elements that can take users to other online booking sites. Travelers, for example, can't book a cruise via Momondo. Cruises are not something that can be scheduled using Momondo, despite being able to travel, book hotels, and book rental cars. While travelers may use a travel-specific credit card to earn independent awards, one-off point earnings will not exist.
No Rewards Program
The fact that they are without a rewards program is another drawback for the Momondo product. Travel agencies will typically provide additional incentives for travelers to continue using their reservation service. Rewards include earning miles or redeeming points for further discounts. Momondo is not offering this sort of traveler program. This means that Momondo users can not save on the following via their own rewards program: • Flights• Hotels• Rental cars
The service's pace was also a common annoyance for customers. Perhaps worth mentioning is the user experience as it applies to the Momondo booking website. Because Momondo searches through thousands of pieces of data and information, populating results can take a few moments. There is also no way to save search results or trips as research is conducted
How to use Momondo and find a cheap flight
To begin your search on Google Flights, first, find the best route and dates, and then check those dates in Momondo to see if there is a lower price.
You enter the same route and dates when you pull up Momondo. Remember that Momondo searches usually take 30 + seconds to complete an internet eternity; great patience is needed. You'll know that when the upper left wheel stops spinning, it's over.
Tap Details in the bottom left corner to get more detail about a specific flight routing. If you are interested in the flight but don't want to book with Bargainairticket (or whichever site has the absolute cheapest fare), you can see how many other online travel agencies are selling the flight for by clicking PRICES.
Note fares shown include taxes.
By opening the Calendar Tool, you can also use Momondo. You'll start by entering the destination and dates. Then, start by clicking on the departure date in the search field to find all the available dates offering the lowest price. Within a couple of seconds (it can take up to 20-30 seconds to load sometimes), you should see the price-filled calendar.
You can easily see what the cheapest departure dates are by using the Momondo Flights calendar app, as they are outlined in red.
Important: The dates shown in the calendar are the best departure dates for a trip of your chosen length (16 days in the picture above). Change the length of the trip to see the best dates for the duration of your planned journey.
At the bottom of the calendar device, you will find the option to change the duration of your ride. If you are versatile, changing the duration of this trip using the arrows is a good way to see all the cheapest dates for a glance.
After your desired departure date has been chosen, the calendar will update to show you the total cost of the trip, depending on the date from which you choose to return. Choose your favorite date, and you will be taken to a window like this one (below), where you will be able to see the various tariffs for these dates.
Momondo will automatically recommend the "best" flights based on price, the total time of travel, and other factors.
Sometimes for the trip you plan to make, you'll see a great price on flights, just to find that it's sold airline you're not interested in traveling with or having a long layover.
The calendar tool will also view these kinds of flights, which can make it harder to locate a flight that matches your plans. Momondo Flights has, fortunately for us, a powerful selection of filters that we can use to remove from the calendar and search results .
How to use Filters
Unlike Google Flights Matrix, where filters can be set anywhere in the search process, you can only filter results with Momondo after the search has already begun.
The filters can be found on the left side, including several stops, length of the journey, trip times, airports, airline(s) and/or alliance(s), booking sites, economy or first class, cost, aircraft, and various other flight features.
You can also filter tariffs for different airlines, departure times, number of en-route stops, and even airports connecting.
Importantly, don't forget the filter concealed behind the "Further" list "Flight Length." It is the easiest way to remove layovers from your tests overnight.
You can go back to the calendar tool to see the latest results once you have configured your filters. We found that sometimes, when multiple filters are set, they take a tad longer to load, so be patient!
How to select your route
When you choose your departure flight, a list of return flights to choose from will be shown alongside each of them and the price for the total journey.
Pick your preferred option, and Momondo will show you the best options to book, usually offered by the airline directly and sometimes by a range of major travel agencies such as Expedia.
You can do this at this point:
1. Choose one of the above options and book with the airline directly.
Direct contact with the airline can be a bonus for any booking problems
If your travel plans change (i.e., lower change and cancelation fees), OR...
2. Scan Momondo to see if an OTA (Online Travel Agent) is available for a lower price.
Mostly there is a lower price than what the airline will offer directly
The Momondo system can be enjoyed by travelers who are constantly looking for additional research resources to optimize savings. Momondo's in-depth knowledge of seasonality (high traffic flight times) and other contributing factors can really benefit travelers who want to save their flight as much as possible. Those who book flights using Momondo can expect from their experience the following:
Flight Strategy Technologically Backed-Detailed Flight Data
Sorting device-Specific and narrow findings
On - the-go phone apps-Mobile app 4's top line.
