Spirit Airlines is a low-cost US airline with regular flights in both North America and the Caribbean and Latin America region. Its headquarters are in Miramar, in the state of Florida, and it has its bases of operations at the airports of Fort Lauderdale, in Florida, and Detroit, in Michigan. Spirit was born in 1980 as a charter company with the name of Charter One, and changed to its current name in 1992. It currently has more than 76 destinations in the main airports of the United States, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Caribbean islands , Central America, Colombia and Peru.

In May 2018, Spirit announced that they would be the first ultra low-cost carrier to fit their aircraft with high-speed WiFi access that started in the fall of 2018. All of their aircraft are expected to be equipped with WiFi by summer of 2019.

The Sprit Air fleet consists of more than 136 Airbus of the A319, A320 and A321 models, and the list of orders to the European manufacturer is close to 180 aircraft as september 2019.
