Air Baltic is a Latvian airline created in 1995. In the beginning, 50% of its shares belonged to the Latvian state, 29% to the Scandinavian airline SAS and the rest to different investors. However, as of 2011, it is the State that controls the airline by 99.8%.
This company maintains codes and agreements for flights shared with other airlines such as Air France, as well as with Uzbekistan Airways. And although it began flying to the Baltic countries, today it has as destination other European countries.
The Air Baltic fleet consists of Boeing and Bombardier aircraft. Being a company with a vast projection of the future, the fleet is increasing and it is expected that by the end of 2019 it already has 30 Bombardier aircraft. Also, Air Baltic flights are being expanded through the "Destination 2025" operation. Currently, its two main airports are Riga (Latvia) and Vilnius (Lithuania), but above all the first, as it is also its central base of operations. As of September 2019, the airBaltic fleet consists of 39 planes.
👜 Baggage regulations at airBaltic
Air Baltic checked baggage measurements must not exceed 100 cm x 50 cm x 80 cm, and the maximum weight will depend on the contracted service. The Basic flight does not include a checked bag, however, a pre-payment can be made to include it, but it must not exceed the measures and weight indicated. The Premium ticket allows you to invoice a package for free. For its part, the Business includes 2 packages that do not exceed 40 kg in total. Surcharges for excess baggage will vary depending on the route.
VIP members have greater billing coverage. The only exception is for those VIP members who have hired the Basic service, since they cannot carry any other luggage. Those who opt for the Premium rate may invoice 3 packages of up to 60 kg in total without charge, and those traveling in Business are allowed to carry 4 packages that do not exceed 80 kg, also without charge.
To travel with bulky luggage, it is necessary to request information and availability from the airline. On the other hand, the company recommends not carrying perishable items, specially valued items such as jewelry, medicines, electronic or mobile devices, identification documents or computers.
🕗 airBaltic Web Check-in
It is possible to check in online at Air Baltic on your web platform or directly at the airport in one of the devices enabled for this purpose and that allow you to obtain the boarding pass in a few minutes. These devices are available in different languages, including English, and it is enough to insert in them the reservation number and the last name of the traveler.
Each of these machines is operational up to 40 minutes before the flight for those traveling in economy class and up to 30 minutes for those traveling in first class. However, special passengers such as people with reduced mobility or those who have reserved medical assistance or others traveling with pets should go to the counter to confirm the requested services.
If you check online directly on the Air Baltic website, you will have to act in the same way as on the airport device, that is, by entering the flight number and last name. This form of online check-in can be done up to 118 hours before the trip, while on shared flights the check-in is available only 24 hours before.
However, at Tel Aviv airport it is necessary to be at least 3 hours before the flight because of the special security measures imposed on its facilities. It is necessary to pass security checks before and after invoicing.
